Q ENERGY inaugurates the 25MW Langrois wind farm in the East of France

On Thursday 20 June, Q ENERGY, a major player in renewable energies, inaugurated the Langrois wind farm, located in the Grand Est region in the south of Haute-Marne. The wind farm consists of 8 turbines, with a total installed capacity of 25.2 MW, enough to supply 30,000 people a year with electricity and reduce CO2 emissions by 29,500 tonnes a year. Le Langrois is managed by Octopus Energy Generation, one of Europe’s largest specialist investors in renewable energy.

A successful, locally-accepted extension project

This project represents a significant extension to the existing Langres Sud wind farm, operational since 2010, comprising 26 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2 MW and spread over eight municipalities.

Submitted in 2018, the Langrois project covers three municipalities and obtained environmental authorisation in 2020, following a public enquiry phase and consultations at the town hall. The archaeological and soil diagnostics have been successfully completed, and the project, as an extension to the existing park, blends into the local landscape.

"Construction work, which began in early 2023 after the project was finalised at the end of 2022, has been carried out to the highest standards to minimise the impact on water resources and on the lives of local residents. The teams' in-depth knowledge of the terrain has also enabled them to optimise processes and reduce constraints for the local community. Also, as the land involved is agricultural, no homes are affected, guaranteeing excellent local acceptability,’ says Eric Cornier, Regional Team Lead Wind at Q ENERGY.

Actively contributing to the energy transition in Haute-Marne

The Langrois wind farm is Q ENERGY's 6th wind farm in the department. The company has developed and built five other wind farms in Haute-Marne, with a total of 74 turbines and an installed capacity of 157.2 MW. Together, these farms supply the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 163,000 people and avoid the emission of 159,000 tonnes of CO2 every year.

"The Langrois wind farm is part of our goal to promote the production of renewable energy, while benefiting from the experience gained over the years and respecting local environmental constraints. This project demonstrates our ongoing commitment to empowering a sustainable world with green energy”, concludes Eric Cornier, Regional Team Lead Wind at Q ENERGY.
